Hemshankar Laugi

Undergraduate Student

Hemshankar is an Honors Biomedical Engineering undergraduate at the University of Texas at Arlington, where he is also pursuing minors in Mathematics and Physics. He brings experiences working in both academia and industry settings at the intersection of experimental and computational research. His background includes work on protein engineering, immunology, medical imaging, and computational biology.

His past research projects include conducting multiple protein, molecular, and genetic studies. He also has experience analyzing pediatric cerebral palsy data using diffusion MRI and DSI Studio Tractography to investigate structural connectivity and fiber tract reconstruction. In addition to his academic research, Hemshankar has industry experience as an Analytical Science Intern at Boehringer Ingelheim. During his time there, he developed high-throughput fractionation methods and utilized empirical data analysis to optimize peak prediction algorithms for protein characterization.

His technical background includes proficiency in Python , R , and MATLAB , with a strong interest in applying machine learning concepts to solve complex biomedical problems.
